Oops this was supposed to be a tutorial, really!

I planned to do a tutorial on a hardcover traveler’s notebook/bullet journal, but I realized that the references I used basically explained what I was about to post. So this will be a listdump instead, as well as a look at my current bujo and the one I am going to use next year. I really didn’t mean this to just be a post where I show off my notebooks, I swear! I’m a little sad I can’t do my tutorial now ^^; I had progress photos and everything all ready. Oh well.

I’ve tried other planners but they either couldn’t stand up to the test of time (apparently I’m a little rough with my notebooks) or got too fussy, since I like to customize my pages and sandwich things as folders, etc. Before all this, I only really used those freebie personal planners, or the academic ones back in school, so I’m used to a no-frills/this-is-strictly-business format. The point of a planner is to be organized and plan properly, no?

Left is standard hardcover (fiction novel) with custom B6 paper. Right is a smaller hardcover (non-fiction in Spanish) with original-sized paper of 4″x6″.

Which is why I love dot grid paper and the traveler’s notebook format. Dot grid gives me the flexibility to make any layout I need on the fly, regardless of where in the notebook, and the actual booklets can be swapped in or out as needed in the cover. It takes a little more time to set up, but it saves me a lot of time and headaches in the long run as well.

Bonus to book covers – the sleeves can be pockets for notes, and to attach paperclips and little notepads.

To keep organized and sort my thoughts, I try to use color and washi tape at a minimum. I like 1/8” grids since my writing isn’t really big, so it helps me measure things better and keep things more legible.

I don’t write down my full-time hours unless it’s a change in schedule because..well…I remember to be there 5 days a week lol.

I wonder what I’ll make at my next office potluck?

My favorite bujo pages are for the video games I’m playing (knowing that I eternally will have a backlog!) as well as books I’m reading; this is my second spread actually, and I’ll likely hit another set before the end of the year too. I mainly read non-fiction like crafting or cooking, but you’ll see some fiction titles in there too.

I plan to reformat this in my next bujo, since I play a lot of Vita/PSN apparently and ran out of room! Btw I’m also on Backloggery!

Titles marked with “♦” were personal favorites of mine. Come to think of it, why didn’t I mark ‘Off to Be the Wizard’ as one!? Gasp.

Of course, if there’s a format you dig for your own bujo, feel free to copy :). I’m no notebook police so go ahead! Do you have a page or list you like in your own bujo or planner?

What’s New in the Shop? (May 6 edition)

Things have been busy here between work, other life events and projects, and then me being sick for two weeks on and off ^^; but I am fine now! In the mean time, I was waiting for Tracer swatches to come in from Spoonflower, so now that they’ve arrived, I can show them to you!

Cavalry’s Here in yellow and orange! These would make super fun athletic leggings!

Tracer will be up on Etsy in a few days as well. My Etsy will also be on Vacation for two weeks starting May 15 due to my sister’s wedding, so during that time I will not be available to process or make any orders. If you want a gift for graduation, birthday, etc, contact me ASAP if you need it before June!

Aside from everything, I experimented with notebook-making lately and I love it! My current planner was getting too messy and I needed to go back to something cleaner and smaller. (I think the larger sizes make me go crazy with decorating, which makes things illegible and defeats the purpose of being organized!)

I switched months ago to a bullet journal format for my personal journal/diary and loved it, so I decided to investigate traveler’s notebooks to migrate my lists (minus the diary stuff) together with said planner into one smaller, portable book.

These are my insert booklets I made in B4 size! The patterns I printed are from Vecteezy – Chinchilla and Floral. The rainbow one seems to be gone unfortunately :(.

These ones have dotted grid paper inside and the covers are cardstock, saddle-stitched (aka staple-bound). They came out so well that I plan to make a few more samples using my patterns for Etsy! Of course, they can be used as inserts for traveler’s notebooks, but they also stand up well just fine by themselves as a jotter for school, notes, etc.

I never announced my cosplay lineup for CtCon, did I? Well, here it is so far:

  • Friday: Mitsuru Kirijo (Persona 3)
  • Saturday AM: Cheongsam Mei (Overwatch)
  • Saturday PM: Off-the-Clock Phasma (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

This probably is going to be shuffled around when I hear more about my itinerary, and the Masquerade will also dictate this. So far Nick and I are planning an Overwatch skit and I may be rigging a puppet. We’re still brainstorming but otherwise I’m excited for the idea, and I think more skits need more puppetry anyway.
