Today, the blog is two years old! I’m surprised by how much I was able to accomplish within the past year. I took a second chance with reviving the shop (and then opened a sister one since it just made sense.) The gamble has paid off, and I am excited to say that if growth keeps up, I should be able to return to artist alleys in 2018!
Business aside, I’m so happy to hear others enjoy my little creative adventures, because sometimes I feel I can be ranty ^^;. I just really like to write! (I’ve had some sort of blog for as long as I can remember, and well before Facebook I had my own website.) All of my readers and followers are amazing for sticking with me – shoutouts to Maggie, Cindy, Anette, and Henry especially!
To celebrate, since the other giveaway on Instagram didn’t work out, I present to you a birthday contest – a D.Va zipper pouch giveaway!
This is the prototype zipper pouch as seen on Etsy, normally a $25.00 retail value, and can be yours for FREE if you enter! Just be sure to follow the guidelines so your entry can qualify:
The contest is open starting at the published time of this post on Sunday, April 9, until Saturday, April 15 at 11:59 pm EST. So mark those calendars!
The contest is open to residents of North America only (U.S., Canada, and Mexico.). Since this item will be shipped to you if you are chosen as winner, please make sure your mailing address is valid! If I find out the package bounces, I sure hope it was a typo on either of our ends or else I will be very upset.
You can apply as many times as you’d like on the shops’ social outlets! (Twitter, Instagram, and WordPress here – please no Convos on Etsy! I don’t know if they flag anything as spam and I don’t feel like finding out!) Each comment, share, and re/tweet counts as 1 entry – just mention something about the giveaway when doing so. Likes only count on giveaway posts.
Winner will be chosen by random number generator, therefore entries will be counted in numerical order as I see them come in. I’ll be keeping track of timestamps in case of discrepancy.
Once chosen as winner, you have 24 hours to claim your prize! If I don’t hear from you after that point, I will redraw a new winner.
This is obvious but since I need to spell it out – any robo accounts or spam blogs that enter will immediately be disqualified. Of course, any other entry that also does not follow numbers 1 to 3 will be disqualified.
Usually fancy blogs take the time to give a shoutout to their sponsors here, but it’s just little ol’ me and the cat running the show. So here’s him photobombing when he found out he had a stunt double. Good luck!!
I’ll be honest, it feels good to finally do an official shop update for once. For future reference, these updates will relate to my Etsy and/or Spoonflower. (Obviously my Etsy is still in progress, so for now it will be the latter.)
A majority of my proofs arrived the other day and I was so excited! Most of them came out perfectly and will be used for sample items in my Etsy. Only one or two didn’t print so well and looked muddy, so those designs were scrapped. New designs will come up for sale each week! Or every other week, depending on if my muse cooperates.
D.Va is self-explanatory (it’s her mech’s decals from the game). I made those swatches into a test pouch, and it turned out fantastic! I’m really stoked for when I list them in my Etsy at last. The tulips print is inspired by another vintage item I had in my closet. I eventually plan to purchase a yard of that in the future to remake the blouse I once had of it. The orange variant was for fun though (wouldn’t it be super cute for Halloween? I might even turn them into leggings for a cute witch outfit…)
Not so much shop as it is for the blog, I updated some of the navigation and About pages (both to reflect the Spoonflower shop and also to clean up). I still make perler projects, just not as often as I used to. I also won’t be making new items of it in the shop as I wanted to focus more on the fabric and sewing projects that you see here. With refocusing the niche of the shop I feel better about really fine-tuning my craft, rather than it being a garage sale hodge podge.
Though I’m all for garage sales! In fact, my past inventory will be for sale at a local one in my neighborhood in a few weeks kudos to a friend ^^. Anything not sold will be on final sale at the Etsy when it reopens.
I’m excited to announce that B.M.D. Studios is not only thawing from its hiatus, but will also be on the fabric-printing site Spoonflower! The geisha pattern I showed you last time is now available for purchase (see the preview below), and swatches have been ordered for the rest of my designs on the catalog as well. For now, the Etsy is still on Vacation Mode until everything is restocked.
Click to see the order page!
Shown is the fabric in Performance Pique, which flows and stretches nicely! So comfy!
If you’re new to ordering on Spoonflower and prefer Etsy, the same patterns will also be available there. I also will be making handmades using the fabrics, from smaller items like scarves and purses, to larger pieces such as lounge pants and shirts. As always, if there’s a custom item you’d like that isn’t shown at the shop, please let me know! Aside from vintage reconstruction patterns, I also will still be doing my geeky items. You can see a few preview designs below!
The blue Mei design in particular will become a cute dress I’ll be making for when I go to AAC again this year. (I wasn’t sure if I was for a while, but after seeing the guest lineup and skipping NYCC for a while, I saw it was within my budget.) I will also be helping with Soldier’s mask, yay pepakura! I hope to have some cool progress photos of those. (Haha..cool…because Mei is basically Captain Cold)
