Reminder on holiday order deadlines!

Wow, I did not mean to neglect this blog! Sorry about that! Work and the holidays has kept me away from WordPress longer than I thought. On the upside, I have never seen a holiday season this busy already here for both my shops ever! It still baffles me that this time 2 years ago, I had to buckle down and put the store on Vacation for most of the year (and didn’t even know if I’d still even decide to reopen)! I want to take the time and thank everyone for their support – many of the purchases I’ve seen or been inquired about have been for gifts or supplies for other indie makers and fans like myself, and that just amazes me! I hope everyone’s projects and gifts turn out fantastic!

That said, just a reminder that our printer/sister shop platform, Spoonflower, released their holiday order deadlines – this also affects the Etsy, btw!

It might look a little confusing, but the breakdown is that as long as you place your order in by these dates (according to your location), it will arrive in time for Christmas! A good rule of thumb is that since the 6th is tomorrow as of this writing, if you need your supplies or gift on time, please consider upgrading your shipping to Guarantee/Rush (basically the equivalent of my Priority Mail pricing).

Please make sure to check your shipping information when you’re ordering, and if you’re not sure and want to confirm, you can always ask me! Note: For Etsy orders, I always place in your order through Spoonflower the same day of purchase (depending on when I receive it it may not be same business day though).

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Delicious Winter Chili (and some epic choco-chip cookies!)

Happy 2017, everyone! I hope your holiday season was well too. Since I bake/cook more often for holiday potlucks and my annual cookie run, I decided to also post one of my recipes I made recently for it! My friends at Otaku Recipes featured my beloved chocolate chip cookies (I was a previous collaborator).

Click for the cookie recipe! (Thanks Kar for the photo!)

Lately I’ve been putting together a recipe box featuring the best of my recipes, as well as family recipes from my mom and my grandmothers. I used the cards from here but next time I plan to enlarge them, since they kind of run small.

Magic is in this box :)…

Now finally, onto the dang chili!

Delicious Winter Chili (4-qt. slow cooker)

Yield: 10 to 12 people

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 (15.5 oz.) cans red or kidney beans, washed and drained
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, grated
  • 2 large red peppers, chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 3 stalks celery, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup beer (use whatever you like to drink)
  • 2 hot chili peppers, deseeded and chopped (depending on the crowd I use jalapeños or habaneros)
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 3/4 tsp. ground sage
  • 3/4 tsp. ground thyme
  • 1 1/2 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  1. Put all ingredients except the ground beef in the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef until cooked. Drain the fat and add the beef to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and set on LOW for 5 to 6 hours, or HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Do not lift the cover!
  4. Serve warm with cheese, rice, and/or tortilla chips, eggs, etc!
Gosh, I can just smell it from here.

What are your favorite things to cook or bake in winter?

Updates for holiday orders and freebie pdf!

The holiday season is well under way! As a reminder, if you’re looking to put an order in and want your item to arrive by late December (Christmas/Hanukkah), domestic US orders must be placed by December 14 for Standard Ground shipping; December 20 for Express or Priority Mail. Anything after that, or for international orders, will not arrive in time for your deadline. I use USPS for all of my orders, so please refer to the USPS page here for more information. Thanks!

Also, an update on one of my previous posts regarding one of my freebies. After experimenting with the cosplay list printables I made, I disliked the A5 one, so I decided to fix it! Please go to the post here for the new pdf!

What’s New in the Shop? (November 22 edition)

I meant to post about this ages ago but life got in the way again! With the holidays coming up, there are no signs of slowing down either so let’s get to it :).

Check out the custom Mei zipper pouch here!

By popular demand, the zipper pouch on my Etsy featuring the D.Va fabric is now available in Mei! I just relisted it back in stock too after an order was put in place, so depending on how many end up flying off the shelf I will have to start setting up multiple quantities in the listings. I hope to also set up other versions of my other fabrics, so the non-Overwatch folks can have their fun too!

Click to see the hashtooth fabric in red or blue.

My batch of Spoonflower designs is almost at its end for now, with the last of the Animal Crossing line released the other day, inspired by the cleverly named Sharp Tee. So far red and blue hashtooth are available but if you’d like a different color variation please let me know and I’d be more than happy to set up a custom design for you!

With the holidays approaching, a coupon code will be available for the holiday Etsy sale again this year! I will release it on Black Friday and it will be valid through December 31, so keep an eye out. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving!

What’s new in the shop? (December 8 edition)

The holidays are now in full swing! For those who celebrate, Happy Hanukkah (as of Sunday night)!

Here in the house, the Christmas tree is about to be decorated this weekend, which inspired me to make a few new cute ornaments. I love fair isle and while I can knit it, my patience only extends to me making small items like pouches or purses with the motifs on them. So I figured since perler beads already do a fantastic job featuring cross-stitch patterns, I put the two together into ornament form!

My second #fairisle #perlerbead #ornament! Very happy with how this turned out! #diy #wip

Ironically, it seems not many of this type of item are featured on Etsy, which definitely piqued my interest to list them in the shop. For now they will not be listed yet but I will think about it. One thing’s for sure, they were certainly fun to make and I plan to do more with different color themes for our tree, and maybe as gifts!

As far as what actually is listed recently, you Payday heisters may have noticed Jiro is finally added to the magnets listing!

His mask was fun to do!

But just like with Sokol, guess who got announced the next day after I listed Jiro? Bodhi! (Keeping me on my toes, I see!) However, since he’s a promotional DLC character (like John Wick and Jacket), he won’t be readily available from the shop as a separate item but like the others, custom orders are always accepted!

I also would like to point out a few of my knitting/crochet clothing handmades are finally up on the shop as well! These are one-of-a-kind creations only available this holiday season, so once they’re gone they’re gone!

On a final note, you may have seen my Instagram popping up with works in progress for book clutches. Unfortunately, it turned into a DIY fail, and I will have to take the project back to the drawing board. (The zippers kept getting stuck) I’m really bummed, since a lot of the clutches came out adorable! I hope to revisit this by next holiday season, but for the time being they won’t be available on the shop, sorry! I apologize for the inconvenience.

As a reminder, the sale coupon code is still going on! Use coupon code “HAPPYHOLIDAYS” for 30% off your total purchase! And remember that after December 31, the shop will be put on vacation. Feedback can still be received and any orders prior will still be processed, so don’t worry if you put in for something even the day before. Thank you for your patience and support!

Happy holidays!
